The best out of all of the cameras available I do not know, but the best out of the seven I have tested is the SpyCam. You can learn more about those I have tested along with the SpyCam or visit their site at woodlandspycam.com.
I had a 1.3 MP Cuddeback but I have not yet had the opportunity to test the 3.0 MP Cuddeback. It's on the list.

I got the 3.0mp cuddeback. Best camera ever
. Pics are clearer than almost every other digital out there. The biggest drawback i have seen is that when you first get the camera the controls can be a pain to figure out, but after a few times it's no sweat.

Cuddeback gets my vote, Great quaility pictures, real fast trigger speed, and unbeleivable battery life, I get up close to 1500 pics on 4 D-cell batteries especially in warmer weather.

Well, the best digital I have used is the Trail Mac Digital. I have the 2004 model which uses a 3.1 mega-pixel Olympus camera, but the 2005 model features a 4.1 mega-pixel Olympus camera. The sensor is run on 8-AA batteries that will last 3-4 months. The camera is run off 2-AA's, the battery life (like any digital camera) depends on how many pictures are taken, how many pics used the flash, and how fast the pictures were taken (as well as temps). I find this to be the best digital unit I have tried as far as battery life goes.
As far as the triggering speed, I will let this picture speak for itself....

Here are a few to show the quality
