I am going to be in New York near Alegheny State Park in December or January. I am only vaugely familiar with the area, can anyone recommend an area where I can do some hunting?

I've always had good success in the Limestone Area.

I don't think the season is open is january.

Thanks Spike, right after I posted the question, that crossed my mind. I am getting soft down here in Florida, all the seasons and times of year run together.

There are a ton of places in that area. I'm an hour or so North or NW of there. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the specfics.

The season ends in DEC fairly early on, but there is the MZ/late bow.

I'd offer you to hunt on the family property, but I doubt it would be convenient enough for you. I'm a native Virginia boy, so I'm partial to southern friends...especially up here in the north
