Default ticks or something else?

I shot a deer tonight and while i was skinning it my hand was continually covered in little bugs that looked like tiny little ticks. Now have any of youexperienced this and do you think they are ticks or are they something else?

deer ticks are very small in comparison to a wood tick, here is a deer tick by a dime to give you an idea

It was probably ticks. I've dressed deer into late November before when it's cold and when slicing down the belly I found that they were covered with ticks. I've seen this before and so have a lot of other guys I hunt with and know.
