Hi guys, just moved to Ohio, and I'm trying to find their full gun regulations. I've got the whole shotgun/muzzleloader thing, but can somebody tell me a definitive answer to:
- can you use a rifle to hunt squirrels? varmints?
- can you mount a scope on your shotgun? muzzleloader?
I can't seem to find the answers to these anywhere in the game regulation book or online. Thanks!

Welcome to the Buckeye State. Yes, yes, yes and yes. Not only can you hunt squirrel with a rifle, in some parts you can hunt them with a handgun.
There is only one restriction on the type of sights you use: you can use a sight that projects a red dot. 'Laser' sights, that project the dot onto the target, are illegal. 'Red dot' sights, with which you only see the red dot in the scope tube, are legal.
The hunting regs handbook that you get when you buy a license is only a summary. The complete set of laws can be seen at your county seat, or just call the Division of Wildlife/your county Wildlife Officer. The numbers are in the book.
Good luck.

The book is really only a general overview. There is a lot of specific things they dont answer but the division of wildlife will be glad to answer any questions. They've always been polite and helpful on the phone when ive called. Good luck, season is only days away!!

Thanks for all the help, guys! I'm absolutely itching for the season now...
Guess I should change my name now! (Buckeye Stalker? OHunter? I've gotta come up with something good...)
