It's a bad habit, but I have been doing it in the stand and on stalk hunts for several years. I have even done small experiments with different flavors. I think that the dip sub-consciously sooths my nerves so Iam more relaxed and takea better shot. It is just a habit that I have developed and is hard to break. To be honest I do not know if it effects my hunting or not. I have seen several mature deer walk with in bow range of me and never even know i was there even after spitting on the ground for hours. On the flip side of that there is no telling how many mature deer I did not see for the simple fact that they have sensed something did not smell right.......who knows????

I chew timberwolf straight. i like to do it, and i like to deer hunt, and i really like doing both at the same time. does it scare deer? maybe. do i havea problem killing deer? no. if it's two things that are part of my lfe i might as well do it at the same time.

I used to dip Mint Skoal but quit about 4 years ago. When I was in the stand I would always carry an emtpy bottle with a cap. I'd spit into the bottle then put the cap on, spit into the bottle, put the cap on, spit.....well, you get the idea.

Even after 4 years I still get cravings for it[&:]

I dip copenhagen or grizzly fine cut natural. Never known of it to mess up my hunt, of course i carry a bottle with a top to spit in. I might can see it messing you up if you have flavored snuff that smells alot, ex: wintergreen , but all my buddies dip and hunt also and hadn't effected there hunting.
