my dad has taken his hunting but it was for the dog sized florida that are around here. . i have one but haven't used it for deer or anything living for that matter. i would assume that the only option would be the 110 unless you handloaded. i have seen some 110 soft points that should do the job if you were very close.

that's all my dad ever used to hunt with. He swears by it, but I feel it's a little underpowered.

I do know that he won't use it if he doesn't have lead tipped bullets. He says the full metal jackets won't expand enough, and he doesn't trust them for hunting.

I've got several, but I haven't seen any for sell recently. Everything I see for sell is FMJ.

okay, thanks for the info. guys but i think these are the questions i should've asked:

Can a .30 carbine EFFECTIVLY kill a deer to 100 yards?
Would it be ethical?
Would it be fair to the animal?

thanks again guys

Like I said, that's all my dad ever used, and he never had any problems.

Even though personally I do not use it, you still got to think: it was designed to kill men. If it can killl a 200lb man, it should be able to kill a deer also.
