Hunting is not a game

Since when did we start having to give a deer a chance ?
Why have so many of you turned this into a game. Hunting is not a game. I will use any resource that is available to me that is legal to harvest a deer or a big 'ol buck for that matter.
I just dont understand the " thats not fair" mentality.

I see it more as a lack of mentalty that only surfaces becauseone person uses different hunting methods than another person.

Along with the lack of mentality, I see it as insecurity that has to puff up one's self to feel that they are better hunters than the rest of us!
Hunting has enough enemies with the anti's! Not supporting LEGAL hunting, is akin to shooting your own self in the foot! The place to have laws changed is in individual state wildlife hearings, not on international public forums!
I am not trying to single any one group out, but remember, trophy hunting, bow hunting, and muzzleloader hunting, would not stand a chance of remaining legal, if it were not for the masses of other hunters supporting them!

exactly. when one state doesnt allow something, this is usually the issue. In states where shotguns are only allowed, a person from that state will usually say "using long guns isnt hunting, thats to easy or not fair" etc, etc..

Ireckon it depends on your view, whether you're hunting exclusively for meat, or for meat and sport. If sport plays any part in your reason for hunting, then you're obviously going to be concerned with giving the deer a sporting chance. The harder the deer is to get, the greater your skill must be in order to bag him. That's why trophy bucks are, well, trophies--they're harder to get then your average deer. So as our capabilities and technologies advance, we purposely handicap ourselves to keep the playing field more even.
On the other hand, if you're not hunting for sport, you might as well farm-raise them and shoot themin a pen with a 50mm.

I just dont use all the gadgets because the price spent compared to the meat gotten wont be cost effective.Plus I need my money for medication.

oh please, hunt the way you hunt and we'll hunt the way we hunt....it's notALL about the killing.....if i see deer i know i've done my homework....i enjoy watching and learning about them....first one is for meat, the second one i may or may not pass on, but that's up to me....and i certainly don't think it's right to judge folks hunting methods, we have anti's to do that.

It is a game to me....Nothing to do with the "that's not fair" mentality, but to me, it's a game all the same. Kinda like a chess match...From all the scouting I do, I finally come up with a "game plan"in an attempt to determine where and when that big old buck mightshow up while I'm in the woods.
It's like a big old puzzle, trying to put all the pieces together. When I finally do, I win, When I do not, he wins....which is most of the time.
As far as "that's not fair", like others have said, if it's legal, it's OK with me. Use dogs, feeders whatever the law allows. Who am I to say it's wrong?
