Ireckon it depends on your view, whether you're hunting exclusively for meat, or for meat and sport. If sport plays any part in your reason for hunting, then you're obviously going to be concerned with giving the deer a sporting chance. The harder the deer is to get, the greater your skill must be in order to bag him. That's why trophy bucks are, well, trophies--they're harder to get then your average deer. So as our capabilities and technologies advance, we purposely handicap ourselves to keep the playing field more even.
On the other hand, if you're not hunting for sport, you might as well farm-raise them and shoot themin a pen with a 50mm.
