RE: Bolt or Semi Auto??
Thanks for the info fellows. I think i am going to go with a bolt, my concern with it at first was what if a deer come running 90 to nothing across a cutover would i be able to get more than one shot if i miss the first time. But i know that with practice you can be just as quick with a bolt as anything.
Can't remember if i mentioned this or not but i think i'm going with the browning a-bolt stainless stalker in 30.06 does anyone own this particular gun? How do you like it and how does it compare to the remington? |
RE: Bolt or Semi Auto??
good choice.
just get familiar as possible with it and believe me, when the time comes for a back up shot, you'll be able to work it so fast, it will sound like an auto anyway, plus that extra instantit takes to lift your head from the stock (you don't have to drop the gun down) will help you realize and focus on the next opening for the next shot, if needed. good luck |
RE: Bolt or Semi Auto??
I own a remington 700in a 7mm rem magand I like the gun very much. However I used my dad's Browning A-bolt chambered in a 7mm rem mag and it shouldered and shot quite nicely as well. I guess it comes down to personal preference. Pick which ever one feels the best and you can't go wrong with either

BOLT ACTION-
ONE SHOT ONE KILL. |
RE: Bolt or Semi Auto??
Where I hunt, the Semi-auto wins hands down. I hunt North Mo. mixture of brush and field crops. I use a Bar 06 many guys use the Rem. 7400 with no problems. This area has unlimited doe tags and some guys want meat for the freezer, it can happen in a hurry and the guys with boltsd are still losaing while the others have 3 or 4 deer down. It also helps when a nice buck is racing across a field.
