I usually use Nosler's 140 gr. Ballistic Tips which to me is a better deer round. I'm on a budget this year so I thought I'd use what I have available. Thanks for the reply.

Do you remember what brand 7mm HP that you loaded up with???

They are Hornady 100 gr. hp's
I may shoot a few of them at multiple layers of plywood spaced about 6 - 8 inches apart to see how they hold up under those conditions. That may give me some idea of how they will perform. Thanks!

I'm in eastern, nc (Halifax Co.) The average size deer is only about 125 - 130 lbs. A 180 lb. deer is considered a moose around here

that's nothing around where I live (harnett county) a 140 would be a moose.

Hornady designed it and sells it as a varmint bullet. If you get it into the chest cavity, you will have one dead deer. If you hit bone, you might never see the deer again. Your choice.
