I will be hunting legally for the first time this year. I've scouted out some possible sites in the mendocino National Forest with moderate sign. I plan on hunting ponds in the evening and dawn and walking creeks during the day. This sound about right to anyone?

Hi, I live in Ca and hunt a lot. for zone A, seeing as how it is an early season hunt. I would use ponds and any water source you can find to hunt. If in Med. national forest, be careful as some of it is B zone. Hunt the water early in the morning and evenings. Some F&G lands are available too that hold lots of good deer in A zone south of med. national forest. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I went to Lett's Lake and hiked uphill then hunted ravines down to the lake in the middle of the day. I scared up some doe and heard them alot but dodn't see any bucks and there was no way that even if they were bucks I would have had the time for a shot. I hunted a glade down the valley at sunrise and sunset but dodn't see anything. Gonna try again next week. HELP. If anyone else hunts that territory and wants another body with them let me know. I found some spots that might make good drives.
