300 win mag vs 7mm Rem mag for deer/elk
Well, it's pretty straight forward in the title. I want to knowwhich round,300 win mag or the 7mm Rem mag, isbetter for deer and elk,or possibly even moose or carribou (I originally was looking for a grizzley round, but lets be honest,I'm probably never going to huntgrizzley.) Which one is better for...
clean kill,
flatter trajectory,
cheaper (not a big factor, but helps),
recoil (I probably should mention that the 300 win mag rifle I'm looking at only weighs 6 1/2 pounds)
And I'm left handed, and have narrowed down my choice to 2 discountinued Weatherby left handed bolt action rifles, so please don't suggest others, as these were hard enough to find.

If it would be mostly deer with a now and then bigger game animal I would go with the 7MM Mag. If the opposite were the case I would Opt for the 300. Niether is required for deer, even the biggest deer but if you are looking for one rifle for all. Then I would go as I have explained above. Either is capable of fine performance on all NA big game.

The trajectory is also pretty much a toss up between these two.
The 7mmremmag ammunition will be very slightly cheaper but not enough to matter to most people.
That leaves recoil and in identical rifles the 300win mag will certainly provide more felt recoil. In fact many people will find a 6-1/2 lb 300win mag uncomfortable to shoot.

Both are great choices. They are pretty much a wash IMO with most every category you have stated. The only thing that may send upa red flag is the 6.5 rig in 300wm. If your at all worried about recoil this unit will deliver a pretty good pop!

Ballistically they are close but the 300 Win Mag will hold up down range better. Also a .308 hole is better than a .284 especially if you roll your own and select the proper bullet for the particular game.

The 300 is a bit more versitile because of the wide range of bullets. As a one rifle magnum battery it would be hard to beat the 300 Win Mag.
