Hunting Software
Anyone know of / use any good software that's designed for deer hunting? Something that allows you to pull up a map of an area and mark rubs, scrapes, food sources, trails and stand locations all intertwined with GPS coordinates?

RE: Hunting Software
i think there is something that may be used for farming or something of the sourt but i can't remember where i would've seen it or what it would be called. it would be helpful though. if you have a gps though with most of them you can put stuff like that into them.

RE: Hunting Software
Is this like what you are looking for? It has to be used with a lowrance GPS unit that has rewriteable media cards.

RE: Hunting Software
I've been using TopoGrafix for a few years... http://www.topografix.com/
Here's a map that it produced... http://www.racksnspurs.com/TopoL.htm
After viewing the above map, click the "UP" buttom on the top right side and see the aerial and the smaller topo map produced by this software. Sometimes the maps get a little fuzzy when you change their size to fit on a web page.
I put the GPS on the dash of my truck and drove the roads, then downloaded the tracks to the software. Click on topo view and it loads the topo map underneath it. Same for aerial view.
The border was hand drawn from a survey map. BTW all the maps are free as it pulls them from the Terra Server site. It helps to have a high speed connection, but once an area is viewed the map are stored locally. I also use the software for fishing on large bodies of water like the Pamilico sound in NC.
If you have any questions, just post them here. I check in 2-3 times a week.

RE: Hunting Software
Also check out Expert GPS. This software has most GPS drivers that allow you to download your waypoints directly in to the software from your GPSand save them on an aerial photo or topo map. Works great for our yearly hunting grounds but also helps you get up to speed when hunting a new area!!
