One of my pet peeves about the hunting shows ALL they seem to care about is "those big horns". It doesn't matter what it is Whitetail, Mulley, Elk, Caribou, Moose... It's like an extension of their... whatever.
I hunt first to have an experience out in God's magnificent creation, taking in all the sights, sounds, all types of animals, birds... Then I look to take a legal deer with an as clean and quick kill as possible. Then I thank God with each time my family and I enjoy that delicious venison.
I’ve gotten a thrill out of shooting a huge buck, but I also do with a nice doe. The whole experience and the meat are what do it for me.

My sons always harvest some deer during the special youth only weekend, so by the time it is my turn the freezer is stocked. My rule for them, as for me, is if it is a buck and it is not bigger than the last years, let it pass. You can always fill the tag with a doe on another day.

Mostley meat. I'm not hung up on just the horns but I do like a big rack. I don't just shoot any buck everywhere I go. I go along with the rules, but I will shoot whatevers legal. The only time I pass up a legal buck is when my freezer is about full and I'm holding out for the bigun.
