Default RE: What should the DNR do about raising deer pop.

I don't think that the deer population needs to be raised!

Default RE: What should the DNR do about raising deer pop.

The DOW of most states have thier hands full sustaining and or lowering deer numbers. They can continue to give out more doe tags to hunters to help lower or sustain deer numbers, depending on what state and area needs to have numbers lowered or just sustained. But the DOW has to be careful not to remove too many deer in one year. If the deer numbers were to get out of hand, which they are nearing that in some parts of the country, mother nature may step in, and is already doing that with the disease called chronic wasting disease. This may have drastic effect on deer numbers if it continues to spread. Another way mother nature may step in, is with a bad winter, if and when that happens. This would be a winter, with the drought killing much of the deers food source in much of the country, a bad winter may be of harsh consquinces to the deer numbers. The DOW has to balance the numbers of deer that the land can carry and that the humans that live their will tolerate.
