RE: Does this attract deer?
There has been alot of suggestions as to what does infact attract deer. Like all animals deer are creaters of habbit and are very curious animals by nature. If it's a sent that alarms them they aviod the direction in which it is coming from or runs like heck to get out of the area.
If it's a natural smell that they find attracting ie, does in heat, scrape matter and other appealing sents they will investigate.
Wintergreen, I would say is a open debate, as you have read some hunters out there have gotten some indirect results.
I personally know vannila work, and have been sold that a open can of sardines works as well?
Deer love honey suckle, I image because it's sweet both with smell and taste. So, in the event that a deer did sample the WG it may like it and relate to the sent as a good thing are present it's self.
On the other hand the sent alone may just interest it being it is a sent that it has never smelled before so it investigates.
