Hit lists!! Lets start posting pics!!

I imagine some of you are starting to compile trail cam pics of what deer you are interested in. Well those of you that live in Iowa! lol.. Here in Michigan I haven't gotten too much in the way of mature bucks but have gotten a couple pics of some nicer ones.. Can't tell if this is the same buck as the picture is almost a month apart. I have only gotten two pics of bucks from this cam in the same location and will be moving it sometime this week:

This first giant 8 is a buck we have given the name "Mississippi" We are think he is just about as wide as...

The one buck from early this year is a buck I have that match set to on his head there and have yet to get a trail-cam photo but have seen him twice in a bean field near my property.

SouthernIowa 08-05-2009 06:12 AM

Here is a couple pics of bucks on the farm I am hunting this year.

The buck in the back ground of these next 2 pics I call Big Natural, he wont show up on camera by himself and has been hidden in the pics I have got. He is a main frame 8 w/ some junk on his brows. He looks to be #1 on the list, filmed him in mid June and looked to push 140's already! The other bucks in the pic are Tech9 & Strait 8.

This young buck looks like he could blow up into a complete monster in the next few years. I can't tell if it is a 2nd main beam or just a really funky g2 on the one side....Let me know what you think?

http://s358.photobucket.com/albums/oo23/travispatton/?action=view&current=TripleBeam1.jpg

This guy is who I call Junkyard, looks like a big mature bodied deer with a very odd rack. He also has a serious goider growing off of his chin, its not just the crappie moultrie cam he had it in every pic. He will have his lungs deflated if given the chance.

The last one is a guy we call Tech9, he looks to need another year or 2 in order to meet full potential. Let me know what you think!

Enjoy!

SouthernIowa 08-05-2009 06:13 AM

Well that post looks like a bust. I hosted at photobucket is that not going to work for pics?

SouthernIowa 08-05-2009 06:14 AM

You got some pigs there Scoonie!

Scoonie 08-05-2009 06:28 AM

Looks like your in pretty good shape yourself So. Iowa! But afterall you are in Southern Iowa. Where are you located exactly? I'm in South-Central Norwalk area.

SouthernIowa 08-05-2009 06:58 AM

Monroe County...It is a blessing and pain in the ass at the same time. Almost all of the primo land is locked up and then all the remaining land gets multiple hunters. Tough to find a solid piece as the common guy without big $$'s to throw around.

I talked to the land owner about this land and he 1st mentioned that my brother and I had sole hunting rights and I was pumped. Scout it and I find multiple tree stands and salt blocks, so I go back and talk to him and then he remembers there are some other guys he also told to hunt it.

Oh well, I will just show up early and hopefully he wont bother coming in to hunt when he sees I am already there. Just bought a GL2 this year so my brother and I plan on hittin' hard this season.

How is the land access up around Norwalk? Do the Des Moines big wigs have it all locked up?

SouthernIowa 08-05-2009 06:59 AM

And congrats on that pig in your avatar! You killed that on public last year right?

Seen your stuff on IW as well, my display name over there is DarkArcher

Scoonie 08-05-2009 07:48 AM

I feel your pain on landing good ground. I'm leasing and living on 125 acres this year in Norwalk right on the North river that I found out very quickly is prime. My buddy and I are also going to out with the GL2 this fall trying to put together some good stuff. We will be hunting 3 farms around this area, and have been very fortunate to land some nice properties in the area because like you said the big wigs have it locked up for the most part. It's nice being from this area and knowing people, but if a guy was to come into this area blind he would be hard to pull any private land.

I shot that big one November 07. I figure I now have one over 200 inches and my other two larger deer are in the 140's so There is a good 60 inches in between there to feel in with some nice deer. I like looking at it that way instead of "I WILL NEVER SHOOT A BIGGER BUCK THEN I ALREADY HAVE" haha

MIBIGHNTR 08-05-2009 09:42 AM

WOW guys!!! Would you like a new friend to come hunt with you?? :D GREAT bucks you have there!!!

Mark

Did you try a system restore to back before she deleted the pics? It should bring them back.:happy0001:

WKP Todd 08-10-2009 08:37 AM

I could show you what we are hunting this year, but then I would have to kill you - and believe me when I say - you don't want that!

RonPenner 08-10-2009 01:45 PM

with another few weeks of growing left before archery season I'm feeling pretty good about taking one of these........note to self......next time ask farmer if he's going to be letting cattle into the bush before putting out mineral lick and trail cam..........

IowaBowGuy 08-10-2009 02:33 PM

LOL Ron!

Todd,

You on something over 200" this year?

Hey So. Iowa! Awesome deer ya got there. i have a cow that i just had to lance open that had an identical looking absess on her jaw. it was just a mesquite thorn infection though. typically not deadly but quite frequent down here in texas. I dont know if there might be similar thorny plants up there ( never been, but want to). the skin often times in those areas is too tough to rupture. might be the same case, but might be something more serious as well. Great looking deer though!

stikbow26 08-10-2009 03:31 PM

Nice buck you got there Travis!! Funky looking but a keeper!!Walt

SouthernIowa 08-11-2009 07:17 AM

We do have some nasty thorny trees in the thickest part of this farm and that very well could be the issue but have seen many other Iowa bucks growing odd lumps as well.

I've got on 2 really nice bucks in the last few days just across the road from a buddies farm that I can hunt and am going to put the cam out in the area this weekend....got a short film of them but am hoping to post a couple pics of them here in the next few weeks.

If anyone can tell me how to pull a still off of a GL2 minidv I could post a pic of one.

Thanks guys!

Here are a couple that we have our eyes on and a good three year old that I want to wait till next year to shoot

indianaboy 08-18-2009 11:41 PM

Here is one of them. Call him Droopy

SouthernIowa 08-19-2009 06:23 AM

Those are some great looking bucks guys, can't wait to see some harvest photos with these hit list bucks on the ground.

IB - Does that buck you posted have a common base on his G3 and G4?

indianaboy 08-20-2009 01:07 AM

Which side??? Dont think so. He has a kicker on his left side G3. Here is another pic of him

SouthernIowa 08-20-2009 06:36 AM

Your right, I thought the kicker on the G3 was the tip of a whole different tine from the beam.

Just put my new bushnell out over some licks last night, hopefully I will have some more pics for the hit list.

This is "Hudson". Name comes from the road he frequently crosses.

sdeland 09-02-2009 07:54 PM

Finally the idiots on trail cam. lol...

Here they are over the last couple of days in the bean field:

Man you stink!

Mom what's this?!

SouthernIowa 09-03-2009 06:46 AM

There are some dandy bucks on hit list this year guys! Can't wait for season and some harvest pics of these bruisers.

WKP Todd 09-03-2009 02:17 PM

Nice work guys! Thanks for sharing all the pics! I'd love to post some pictures - but that would ruin the surprise!

No 200"ers - but I've got some really nice bucks to chase. Way bigger than anything I've killed - so that's all you can ask for!

Hunting all new areas for some real big deer though! Anything is possible!

Good luck guys!

gunther89 09-03-2009 06:47 PM

Todd is Bentley still running around?
