Default Grinded out Season into success.

Man, this season has been highs and lows for me. I have spent way too many hours in a tree this year. I have pretty much neglected everything in my life to try to harvest a couple mature bucks. I flew to IL for the first week of Nov, and although I had alot of passed opportunities, the two bucks I wanted to take never came within bow range.

Back here in my home state of CT, things are different. Hunting perse is easy, to shoot 1.5 to 2.5 yo deer, but to kill 4's 5's and 6 yo.'s is really tough, cause there just are not that many of them.

I did manage to "Grind" a couple mature bucks out this season. The first was an aggressive 7ptr that had one particular ridge and draw torn to pieces. I passed close to a dozen diff bucks in a month period until he decided to move during shooting light. The day I poked him, I sat from first light till I shot at absolute last light. I was proud of that deer as he was the only one I wanted to take from that property. My second buck was killed today in the late afternoon. I have been getting trail cam pics of this buck since early Dec, on another piece, and I really wanted to take him this year. I made a difficult shot and blew his lungs out. He ran 70 yards and flopped over. I am mentally, physically and emotionally drained from this season, and I am glad its almost over. I think my wife is glad too! Take care guys.

Dude - NICE WORK! Man, couple dandy bucks! I was hoping like heck to get a crack at the twitchin seven this season - but that didn't happen. Sucks, but what do you do? Well, you kill them- we just film them! he he he...

Jason,
sure looks good. I understand on the work, family, other, catagory. Family was top priority for me this year. Had some great hunts early. Will be in the woods scouting with the kids all winter. Have a great holiday.
