Default Colockum Elk numbers

Has anyone wondered why the elk numbers are down in the Colockum? A friend of mine told my of the Indian hunting going on in the Colockum. Now I believe it. A Yakima indian kid came to work on my job and he told me he kills between 12 and 15 elk a year. Most out of the Colockum. He also sold a half to a guy on the job for $100. In one day he and his buddies also killed nine mule deer does. He says he kills around 15 to 18 deer a year. Its time to change the laws and treaties. Any one have any ideas to start the process?

i was up in the naches area this week elk hunting in the cleman area. and i talked to a biologist and they are putting gates on the area up there to keep all the people out from jan1st to april 31st for the protection of the herd since that is a wintering area. that is what they need to do on the colockum and it might keep the rest of those of those warhoops out of there from killing the rest of the herd

The war hoops will just move to another area, doenst matter what you do. There also hunting the Yakima training center pretty hard for deer to.

OU, did you kill a cow. At least there opening those gates before turkey season, was that Bio pretty sure on the april 31st date.

Does anyone know what the rules are for tribal hunters if any? What happens if I shoot a deer or elk on the reservation?

Would be nice if the tribal hunters would stay on there reservations when they hunt or have some type of regulation when they need to hunt off the reservation. It would be a shame if the heards are depleated because of this type of hunting.

Ya, itll probably never happen, the res has some nice animals but I think they would have to work to hard to get them, cant shoot them out the pickup truck window.

How about maybe we make them decide whether they want those treaty"rights", or thier casino money......they could only have ONE!
There also seems to be some other problems up there, saw a few animals this year where the DNA didn't seem quite right RE#1 a very questionable spike we saw killed (you'd have to have seen it),#2 a Spike with one side rising about 2", then curving down in front of it's eye, #3 and a 3x4 that ALL branches came out of it's head-not above the ears. By the way the regs. are written he would be a legal spike- if you liked court!
Seems to us that it is time to give out MORE branched permits since inbreeding is becoming a evident problem to idiots like us.
Also: I think on the north end that apple workers could be getting many-- How many fences do you see around recent (or ANY) orchards in the Stemilt basin? Almost (maybe) [:'(][:@]NONE!!! They seem to have no problem driving on posted closed roads.
