To me like my Dad always said, Elk are so damn tough to hunt you better take the one in front of you whenever possible. Deer they're a different story.

I tell you what a Cow step in front of that T/C I just bought and smoke will be belchin' from the end of that thing for darn sure

Doc, if you don't mind my asking, why not shoot a doe if you aren't interested in the rack? I'm guessing there is a difference in opinion on this, but the little bucks really should be passed on. With the deer problems you guys have over there, most areas could use a MAJOR reduction in doe numbers to get the ratio even close to normal. Every doe is worth 6-10 fawns in her lifetime, and over half of those fawns will be does that produce another 6-10 fawns. A buck is only worth himself. I really wish that area would have been made a 3pt area, but the locals wouldn't hear of it. With only a 1 deer limit, WDFW will never manage the whitetail herd in this state. Kinda hard to control 130lb rats when you are only allowed to take 'em 1 at a time(unless you get drawn for a 2nd). JMHO, no offense.

Mainly because of the size difference.

BTW, I like your ideas about deer harvest.

They need to increase the limit from 1 deer to maybe 3 whitetail does up near Doc E's neck of the woods. The deer population here in Maryland is crazy I can shoot up to 36 deer this year and 6 of them have to be bucks, the rest will be does, reason why is the doe populations is out for control.

On a different note, I didn't get drawn for anything, but my Uncle and Aunt got cow tags and does tags

Our group got selected for a ML elk cow tag in the Nile unit.

Hope we have better luck than last year in the Bumping unit!
