I've been out that way but never have hunted it. It's real similar country to where we hunt now though.
I can pass on things I've heard about the area, such as wolves are worse than where we hunt now. You might want to confirm that with a call to Fish & Game over there,
I know of an Outfitter friend who lives there who pulled up stakes and quit because of that very problem. On the other hand I've heard of other hunters in that area that have been taking bulls. So it sounds a lot like this area, if you know the area and can avoid them wolves for the most part you can get into elk.
It's only a matter of time though if the wolves aren't disposed of.
So if you've got a spot or 2 already there, go for it. But I'd continue asking around. Fish & Game can be a big help. Here's a # to the Clearwater Region of Fish & Game---(208)-799-5010---Hope this helps.
P.S.--Glad you enjoyed the web site, if you have any questions about the calls, shoot me an email. elknut1

Elknut,
Thanks for the responce. I've got a old guiding buddy that still lives in Orofino so he'll help set me up. I was just looking for any other input. He whistled one in to 25 yds last fall with his 5 year old with him. This was just up behind his house. When I was out there we went straight from town to the Selway so I just don't know 10a very well. I will be in touch about calls and such. Maybe a video or two also. Thanks again.

Moose creek. I went with a few guys from NY in that area two years ago. I saw more moose than elk. The undergrowth is kinda thick. We got 3 bulls that week. There are alot of roads closed down to motorized vehicles so be careful. I am sure that if you know someone in the area, he will know where there is a few elk. I am not at liberty to tell you the exact spot that we hunted but I will say to get away from the main roads. Good luck on your hunt.
