I'm in the military and I'm new to Wa, I have a passion for Coyote hunting but don't know how to get started...? Should I ask around to private land owners..? Go to Public lands..? don't even know if their open... I live in the Kitsap Peninsula but I'm willing to drive a ways to do some hunting... If any of you guys can help, that would be awesome.. Thanks.

Find some timber company, state, or national forest land and have fun. There are a ton of coyotes anywhere you go. The biggest problem on this side of the state is finding a spot with enough visibility. I've seen coyote sign at every place I've hunted on this side of the state. You might even call the regional WDFW office for some spots that have had complaints. Good luck.

Somebody else may want to jump in here, but I think I remember a company out of Oregon that takes pelts. If you can't come up with the name, I'd call a taxidermist and see if they can put you in contact. Seems like the last price I heard was enough to cover gas, but not too much else. Depends on the market. It's a good excuse to get out though.

I've only seen a few that were as big as you'd expect to see. Most of the ones I've seen are like really big foxes, but I shot one that was bigger. Her den mate was even bigger, most likely a male. I have always said I would give it a try during the winter, but things always come up to keep me busy. This is the time of year to make money off the hides since they are really thick for the winter. If anyone knows the current price for them, please post it. It might give the wife some incentive to let me out of the house.

Another place to look would be the National Trappers Association website at http://www.nationaltrappers.com/. There are some good links there that may lead you to what you need.
