I watched the hearings and they seemed to go Ok. Ed Owens, CRWM Chair and our political consultant made some great points. As the head of "No I-713" campaign he had mass dirt on the "Yes I-713" campaign, exposing them for the liars they are.
The one odd part that stuck out for me was the statement from Senator Erik Poulsen (34th District: West Seattle, Burien and Vashon Island), that the mole bill is not about I-713.
WTH!! Not about the trap ban?!! How could this bill NOT be about the I-713 ban on "body-gripping" traps? Moles and traps when hand in hand during the campaign. The HSUS told the public and media that mole traps would NOT be banned by it - while hunters, CRWM, trappers, and even the WDFW through its (non-positional) "Fact Sheet" on the effects of the proposed law said that they would be!
The "mole bill" has everything to do with the trap ban, initiative 713. Anyone that doesn't see that, simply doesn't want to, IMO.

They haven't updated the status page for this bill yet. You can follow the bill's status (or any bill for that matter) by going here:
http://search.leg.wa.gov/pub/textsearch/default.asp
entering the bill number and the word "status" in the search box and then checking the box for the 2002 legislative session.
This bill was introduced last year and failed to make it to the floor for a vote. With any luck we will keep it from a vote yet again. The legislative process is one where things lie around for months and then go on the move with little or no warning. We just need to stay tuned, stay vigilant, and act when we need to.
