Alert: Anti-hunters could be using this site for research

If you don't know anything about bowhunting and wanted to find a site on the web to do some research on it, what would be one of the first addresses you would try? www.bowhunting.com Be careful how you folks respond to some of these "What do you do?" or "Have you ever?" threads in light of the fact that the Humane Society is trying to get bowhunting banned. There's been a lot of "RESEARCH" questions from newbies here lately.

There was a king once that entertained 2 men from another kingdom. After they left a wise man visited the king and the king said “2 guys from that kingdom yonder came over”. The wise man said, “What did you show them." He said “Everything” to which the wise man said, “You fool, now they will come back and take everything”. Damned if they didn’t.
Moral of the story: Brag about personal things to people you don’t know and what you have may be taken away from you.

Say it like it is, don't lie, be able to explain what you believe and why and thats all you can do. I'll make no apologies for shooting animals through the lungs so they bleed to death in a very quick manner. I'm a hunter, its what I do

Don't we go onto PETA's and HSUS's websites doing our own research? I really enjoy looking at some of the outrageous - if not absolutely insane - comments they put on their sites. Sometimes it's hard to believe human beings can be so twisted...
For example, a few years ago, they wanted humanity to commit mass suicide and give the planet back to the animals. I waited and waited for them to lead by example, but it never happened.

It's the "How many deer have you failed to recover?" or "What do you leave in the woods?" type threads that concern me. Something they can twist into legal ammo. Such as "These are the numbers of deer that are not recovered every year" or, "Hunters litter the woods with all their garbage when they leave."
Don't make the mistake of thinking they have any sense of personal honor or integrity. They have proven they will lie, cheat, steal, harass, vandalize, commit arson, assault, even MURDER to further their own objectives. I hold even the more benign ones among them just as guilty as the extremists, because they support the nutcases with money.

post, but do it intelligently. have reasons, for what you do and don't do. facts are a killer to folks like that. I have written several rebuttal editorials to these folks in local papers in pa. they really don't like it when their beliefs are proven wrong by hard facts. really miffs them.

Most of those PETA people let emotion, not facts dictate their actions and opinions. Unfortunately, I have seen that also in this forum when people debate their weapons of choice and downgrade others. It's nice to have different opinions, but people need to respect other's opinions.

I agree with some of the statements here. I am a bowhunter. I love the sport and am not ashamed of what I do. HOWEVER, there are on occasion statements made, and things brought up that is just fuel for the PETA fire. These are not normal, rational thinking people for the most part. They will take what you say and make it into a horrific statement and use it against anyone who carries a bow or any other weapon into the woods each year.
I for one don't want to see me, or any of my fellow board members words on one of their sites made into some goofy statement about anyone who hunts is a blood thirsty, kill anything that moves psycho-path. These people are a real threat, and we must treat it as though our rights as sportsman and bowhunters is in danger. If we let it go, it could be. Hell, just ask a couple other country's who's rights have been stripped.
I am not surprised one bit that people from PETA and other organizations visit this site. We must always becareful of what we say. But like I said, don't be ashamed of what we do. There is nothing wrong with it. Our ancestors did it to survive. Thank goodness for that or none of us would be here.
