I have never hunted in NM, but drew unit 51 for December ML elk. Hey, I'm clueless! Need advise for hunting this unit. It's a long way from KY and I'll only have 3 days to scout. Appreciate any help!

never hunted 51, but hunted 52 last year in oct. Hills not too rough and not much elevation if I remember right only around 8,000 feet. talked to some locals and they said next to 52,51 would be there next choice. They said usually lots of snow and elk really grouped up, like herds of 100 or more.

I've only hunted 52 as well in December. It was a tough hunt because there were people everywhere. When we got away from the people we did find a couple of nice bulls. Hopefully you can find some good info from someone.
