Default Looking fr advice on a wyoming hunting trip

Hope some one can help. My buddy and I are planning a trip next year to mule deer hunt in Wyoming. I would like some advice on a good pair of boots. We will be hunting around Sheridan some time in October. Thanks Jerry

You will want to bring two pair probably. I hunted up there late October this year and there was about 15" of snow in the area we were in. A week before there was little to no snow. Get a 1200 gram thinsulate or more for the cold and then a good pair of lighter insulation if there is no snow. Get what feels good as far as brand goes. Nothing more crappy than sore feet when your hiking in the mountains and have a long was to go.

Check out the Cabela's Outfitter series. I've used them in Wyoming (this year included) and they're nice, ... my third pair! They have the Thinsulate lining and wear very well.

Good one

Are you going to be hunting the foot hills or going into the BigHorns? If going into the BH's bring rocket shoes cause you will need em. LOL any light weight insulated 8" boot will do fine unless you find yourself walking aroung in powder. I would avoid anything with a large lug cause they tend to trip you up when getting in over and around big rocks.

Forgot to mention I like the full leather Danners cause the leather seems to be a bit softer and break in time is about half. Bad thing about Danners I noticed is the soles are softer too and wear a bit fast.

Default yup

I am an outfitter in the area you are going. Elknutz hit it square on the head. My choice of cold weather packs is a bit different than his but love the Danners. You will need to bring two pairs for sure. I hunted this whole year in snowboots. Only had like 5 days where the Danners were enough.
