Advice for Idaho 66A/76 Diamond Creek A Elk tag

Default Advice for Idaho 66A/76 Diamond Creek A Elk tag

Okay, based on some advice earlier in the year I purchased a Diamond Creek Zone A elk tag, archery tag for September.

To be honest, I'm a little worried as I noticed it seems to be a rather "small" unit for 1600+ tags but went with the advice. Has anyone hunted this region in the last couple years and can offer some advice? I'd like to think there's some areas I could hike it back in to get away from the crowds but not sure if that's possible. Aside from that, any advice on the following.
  1. contact for the local Idaho game and fish biologist.
  2. Typical elk rutting dates in this area.
  3. Any other advice.
I'd hate to do this, but if I think the area is going to suck, I have 2 weeks to switch my tag, so I'd appreciate feedback!!! Thanks.
