Default When do they start gobbling in western WA?

I' ve heard they' ve started in other parts of the country, and some seasons are getting ready to start. When do they start gobbling here in western WA? I' m going scouting this Sunday, and am just wondering if I might here one fire off from the roost. Toms should be feeling their oats really soon I would think.

Wouldn' t be suprised if this cold snap put em' back into winter mode... I' ve been hearing about birds in Arlington - several different people (some of whom don' t hunt and couldn' t believe their eyes)... Might have to pop up there sometime this week an poke around.

I spent most of the day poking around Johnson Creek area yesterday, but couldn' t have heard one if it was shaking the treetops with gobbles. The wind and rain was really bad most of the day. When it did settle down for short periods, you couldn' t hear for all the water falling in the woods. I did find some new territory to roam when season opens, but didn' t find any sign to really justify the hike except that not many others will be there. I got some good exercise though. I imagine this latest cold snap has shut ' em down if they had started talking. I hope to get back out in the next week or so to listen again.

invector - the last gal I talked to said something about a freeway, a church, and a fire station, and some road that winds back up into some woods... I' m not sure exactly, and was going to hammer it out a little this coming Sunday. I' m just south of you in Marysville, if the birds have made it up that far, they must be doing well - the closest release site I know of was Snohomish county somewhere.

Im going out sunday to my wifes relatives house in west yakima, hes feeding 55 turkeys and said a 1/3 of them are jakes and toms, they come up and peck on his windows at there shadows. The game dept is giving him food to feed them, hes also feeding elk on his own. Were gonna check on the best way to find them as they head back up the mountain from his house.
