Hi Guys,
Looking for a bit of help. I applied for a non-res Elk/Deer Combo for Montana this year. Their deadline was March 15th and I was in before then. Well on Monday I recieved a 2008 Montana non-resident deer, elk and antelop application. Its not clear to me what this is. All that came with this was the application and a 2008 regulations. No instructions etc... Can someone help me figure out what this actually is? Do I need it, in addition to my March 15th submission, for the drawing or other tags?
Thanks
Windog

Does your application show up online using you ALS number? If it were me I would first go online and look at my pending status. If nothing is pending then I would be on the phone ASAP to find out what was going on.

In MT you first send in for the general license (which it sounds like you did)... Then if you draw that one, you can choose to apply for a limited entery hunt.... Guessing your packet contains information about limited entery tags/areas. I noticed I got one in the mail this last week too, but I havne't even opened it up yet...

Ok, I found out that the paper I recieved is only for "special applications" not the general application. Aparently it was a coincidence I recieved it the same time I was to hear about the general tag. thanks for the help

right, the deer/elk info is for the special tags/licenses, they have 2 draws....I think the general tag isnt too hard to attain, but the special tags/units are very tough. Still not certain how it all works either, haven't had any real intentions to hunt elk/deer in MT yet though. Though I think you can archery hunt some great units.....with good draw odds, though I think that theyre considering changing the best untis into maybe a bow/draw system, since I think almost anyone can archery hunt those great units......ie starting to be too many hunters/archers in those good units that time o fyear....
