Has anyone hunted (Deer) in this area before? I was told that it was in the NW part of the state but after looking at a map, it appears to be in the NE corner. Any information would be much appreciated, thanks.

It is neither in the NW or the NE part of Montana. Region 7 the Southeast part of Montana. If you are looking just at HD 700 and not the entire region it is situated on the southern shore of Fort Peck North of Hwy 200 and West of Hwy 24.

While there isalot of public land thereare also alot of hunters. You certainly will not have the place to yourself. If you are willing to burn a little shoe leather you can find areas that the hordes don't get into but those are getting to be fewer and fewer every year.

There are no bears there. The people you are talking to must either be confused on the unit they were in or are very heavy drinkers.
