HI Guys,

I am looking for some help. My uncle and I are a hoping to do an unguided Mule deer hunt out west someplace. We are thinking either MT or WY. However, we are looking for some recomendations where in either of those states to go. m Can someone send some suggestoins?

First you have to draw tags. If you are thinking Wyoming some of the apps need to be in by the end of Jan. For Montana you need to be in by March 15th, if you are applying for deer combo only you will have drawing odds of less then 12% in Montana. Deer/Elk Combo first time no point runs about 13% odds if my memory serves correctly.

Getting the tag will be the important part after that there are alot of areas that you could hunt.

Ok. I had thought that you had to specify the area you had planned to hunt before you submitted application. Which, is why I was looking for that first. Thanks for the info.

Wyoming you do need a specific unit. In Montana you get a general deer tag good in any open district that is not draw only ie 652 or 270 etc,
