I’ve gone on two self-guided Bivy style Bow hunts OTC in CO. Both times were unsuccessful but I was in Elk both times. This hunt was in rough country in SW CO.
My hunting partners and I are discussing a muzzleloader hunt out west self guided that we do with good Elk numbers and a decent shot on Elk.
Is there anywhere OTC with good Elk numbers?
Thanks

Also what kind of 50cal loads are you guys using for them
Thanks

TreestandEd...somewhere back on another thread I commented on my M/L elk hunt this past September. I took a real nice 5x5 with 100gr of 777 2F powder and a 348 gr. Powerbelt Aerotip. He was only about 80 yards out when I shot (after working him for over a half hour+) and I smacked him just a bit high, but when I did, he side stepped twice and tipped over like a ton of bricks. He was angling slightly and the bullet lodged against the hide on the opposite side. The bullet was basically 100% in tact and was a perfect mushroom. Excellent bullet performance!! (Also in CO you cannot use sabots, so this was the perfect solution with a full diameter caliber bullet)
