RE: mule deer - archery Idaho
Desert or flatlands/plains would be preferred. I hunted eastern Montana for mule deer last year. I am not familiar with hunting in the mountains. I live in FL, so we have no mountains. Early season (August or Sept)? Any particular regions or districts?

Well if you are not wanting to hunt the high country. Then I would stick to any of the areas around the snake river. There are thousands of acres of public land to hunt. Low land deer stay near water.. Bannock,Big desert, and owyhee county are a good bet!

Check your regs before heading to Owyhee county. Most is in controled areas. Also look closely at the regs that will be coming out, especially if the mule deer initiative comes into play next month, your opportunities may be limited if F&G gets their way. To learn more about the mule deer initiative go to the fish and game website, and bring a pillow., There is lots to read on the initiative..
