Default Female, New to Hunting

I'm new to hunting, and want to learn how to do it. I live in the Los Angeles area, and I'm female. I'd prefer to hunt with a bow of some type. Does anyone know of a good place where I can go to learn the ropes, all about bows, how to use them, maybe trips to the field to help show me what to do? I'm interested in hunting quail, hog, possible bear and maybe deer. I want to start with whatever is easiest at first. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm not even sure what licenses I need, or if I have to take a hunting safety course through the state/county, or when hunting each animal type with a bow is legal. I also have no clue where to go in California to hunt. Yep, I'm a total newbie. Please help! Thx.

Are you on the south side of LA near OC.? There is a place in OC. I think there are a few places out near Chino and West Covina.

As for hunting, deer and hogs will be your first. Have you taken a hunter safety course? If not I can send you some info on that.

I hunt north of LA and East of LA for quick hunts.. When I have time I travel to NORCAL. The hunting is good here for several simple reasons.. One, it is totally NOT PC to hunt here as folks here believe the meat in the super market crawled into the package by its self... Fish of course die a much more humane death in the hull of a ship on ice.. The next is due to the NOT PC thing, you have A STATE which would be like driving from Philidelphia to Atlanta which in those states your hunter competition would be 1 million in PA, VA 250K, MD 125k, NC 250k, SC 250k, GA 400k total hunters. Total here in Cali approx 200k. I hardly ever see anyone... if I do they are like me and extreme - will walk and climb.

Bear are extremely plentiful here. This year in 4 days, I saw 5 bear. Passed on them- want a light brown not black.

Deer, only hunt older bucks. So, I only track 4pt of larger.. which means 4 points on each side.

I use bow, muzzleloader and rifle. Bow is my favorite. Be careful here due to cats when out. Email me and we can chat. later,

First off, welcome to the boards

I'm also from CA as you can tell from my profile.Cuernos pretty much cover the bases already so here is just some more ideas. You can go to a local hunting shopor sporting good stores, as well as places like Wal-mart if they still have the info there. I know that there is alot of places like that in LA since i'm only couple hours away and know some of the hunting areas whereI am as well as on the coast. You can even look up the info here on the net. Try California Fish And Game as well
