Can anyone tell me how Oregon does their elk tags? Do you have to put in for a draw or can you just buy them over the internet or in a store? I am from Indiana and would like to know before I try to go out their. Thank You.

Like blacklab said it depends on the area. the best way is to get a game book in the spring and fill out the App. I am planing a trip back to Oregon in 07 after being away for two years. shoot me an E-Mail and I will send you an 06 game book.

simcoe18,
I highly recommend for you not to start applying in Oregon. It will cost you $70+ per year just to get in the game, and they only give out 2 1/2% of the tags to nonresidents. There are many other better places to apply for good elk tags. E-mail me if you want more detailed info.
I have been applying all over, including Oregon, for 10 years. The only reason I keep going in Oregon is because my hunting partner lives in Portland and we can do a combo fishing/visit if I draw anything. Plus I am applying to areas he knows well, and can help me. Otherwise I'd have dropped out years ago.
