What is (in your opinion) the best all around short reed call. By all around I mean versatile. I bought a Lohmann call and really don't like it, I can do the feeding call on it, and to get any range in pitch on it is impossible, for me at least. you are either high pitched or a growl. I also tried a Primos flute, kinda like it but I want to get good on a short reed style call..I don't really want to spend too much on a call, but just throw out your opinions so I can see my options, also if you know about what the call costs

I like my Hunters Specialty Slamer short reed and it comes with a cassett tape. If you buy Take' em Six on DVD it comes with goose and duck calling 101 which uses this call. The Big River short reed my friend has sounds really good also. If you want a good sounding flute call the Big River and Premos sound good and are easy to use.

I currently use a Winglock delrin and am VERY pleased with it, it does everything I could ask for in a call. Another good choice is the GK Slayer, very goosey and great sounding. The Heartland calls are all quite good calls, I've got the pip-squeak on the way.All of the above calls are very good and none of them will cost you more than $85. PM me for addy's if you like

I just got a Mick Lacey acrylic short reed, I was looking and the only heartland call I saw was 125 bucks, the mick lacey was only 25. I figured I would practice up on this one since I won't have enough decoys for a while to start doing some serious calling,..
