breaking in short reeds...

Default breaking in short reeds...

hey jus bought a need short reed and been caling none stop. i was jus wondering if there's any tips or tricks to help break it in faster..

Take off the barrel and snap the reed with your fingernail. Just pull it up and let it snap back. Do it a number of times.

I use a small shop vac
I switch the hose to blow
I tape ( Blue painters tape ) the call into the hose and let it blow for 20 min
Do this when no one needs to sleep or think

its not all about the reeds being broken in... You need to be more concerned with the tone channel in the guts breaking in.... Once you get a groove worked in there you can put any reed in it it will blow just fine all it takes is time
