Hunting Licences
Sorry to come across as a total novice but I am planning a 2 month trip out to the US later this year and trying to cram as much hunting in as possible! Just curious as to if I will need any type of licence or permits to hunt duck and other waterfowl over there?

What are your expected arrival and departure dates?
To hunt waterfowl you will need to purchase a US federal duck stamp good in all states. Additionally, you will need to obtain a Harvest Information Permit (HIP). Additionally, for each state in which you hunt waterfowl, you will need a local state hunting license, possibly a state duck stamp, and possibly a state habitat stamp. Some states may require you to have completed a hunter education course, but perhaps there are ways to waive this requirement for a temporary foreign visitor. Bear in mind that many states offer short-term hunting licenses, for example a 5-day hunting license, that is less expensive than an annual hunting license.
The hunter education course is not necessarily a major hurdle My son and I completed this in a single, all day, 10-hour course and walked out with our huntereducation cards at the end of the day. It may be possible for you to complete a hunter education course on-line.

Ukhunter do you know what state you will be visiting or are you planning to visit several? If you know that info, there are many websites that will help you with your search. Try duckhunter.net, it has many forums on it and is free just register. Good luck with your search.

If you google (name of state) wildlife and fisheries. Or (state) parks and wildlife. You will find that most states have web sites where you can find the info and many have online license sales.
