Well here is my first banded goose. First banded anything actually! My brother and I went out for about an hour and a half yesterday evening. It was well worth the short hunt. Just thought I would share my excitement with the rest of you.

Yep hard to come buy I have been duck hunting for 16 yrs and have only got 1 band. I have been on killings of 3 others but never drew the short straw. They are hard to come buy and I have killed thousands of ducks and geese over the years.

Congrats on the band!!! I'm like TN Deerhunter, I've killed over a thousand geese, and probably over a thousand ducks and I've only gotten 3 bands, and that was in the last 2 years. I was getting to the point of trying to poach one on the golf course or buy some on ebay! (just kidding)
Congrats again on your first band and I hope you get a bunch more!

This is only my second year to hunt waterfowl. A friend took me last year and we both shot a limit of ducks the first day. I was hooked from them on. I've only killed about 85 ducks and about 15 geese to date so I'm probably ahead of the game as far as bands go. I know alot of guys who hunt a long time before they ever get one. I'm just lucky I guess.
It's kinda neat to see this come full circle. Several years ago I helped band geese with the wildlife department during the summer. At that time I had never been waterfowl hunting so it wasn't really that big of a deal tome. Now that I'm addicted it is pretty neat to have both banded and recovered a band.

Redneck, My buddy took a guy on his first goose hunt this year up in the mountains. The first 2 times he pulled the trigger he got a banded goose. 2 shots, 2 banded geese! Now that's lucky![:@]
