It's called a neck collar. The green means the collar was put on in Colorado, I think. It is a way for them to track them without them being killed, because they can read the number on the collar with bino's.ORIGINAL: Riffer

what i dont get is that they put on neck collars to read them without killing them.... i just makes people want to kill em more?!?!? idk thats what ithink i still would have shot it!

They neck band geese so they can go to places with high consentrations of geese and glass the area and see and read the neck band numbers. They can get more information and more frequently that way than justrecording the location it was shot at.
