How Many Shells
Do you typically go through in a season? Also, how many shells per bird on average?
I go through about 2 boxes give or take a few shells, and I average a duck/goose every three shots.

RE: How Many Shells
Im at just under 8 boxes(200 shells), im right at 2.5 shells per bird. I think that number is misleading though...
Impositive Ive fired off 2+ boxes dispatching crips,, some mine, some others ive hunted with... We dont dilly dally,, if there is a crip down everyone keeps shooting at it until its a done deal. It can add up fast if you target strictly divers 4 or 5 times a year.

RE: How Many Shells
I go thru a flat + a season ( 250 + shells)
I average around 2 shells a goose
Tonight 2 shots , 2 geese
For ducks probley 2 to 2.5 shells a duck
Tonight I fired 11 shells for 5 ducks
But I did fire 4 shells to help finish off OTHERS cripples
I have to do that more than I like , so I probley shoot 2 or 3 boxs a season on cripples ( 80-90% other guys birds )

I vividly remember a bufflehead that myself and two friends shot an entire box of shells at trying to finish him off. I swear they can dive faster than shot can leave the barrel and get to them.
I have acctually never kept track of how many shells or how many shells per bird on a season. I have kept track over the course of a day. And I keep track of how many birds I kill a year. I guess you would have to check out my Visa card statement.
