Snowgeese to call or not

Default Snowgeese to call or not

Did my first snowgoose hunt today and had a good time all though I didn't get any. I hunted on Skagit Bay in WA state and had a small spread of a dozen decoys. Had a shot at one flock but couldn't connect. Missed one flock while eating lunch back at the truck and another when I realized I had grabbed a box of 4's instead of BB's. I know my spread is small but it is all I can afford right now. Still I think I have a better chance if I get there early enough to catch the morning flight off the bay and keep my head out of my rear end .

Do any of you use a call when hunting snowgeese or is decoying enough?

Sure use a call and one of the best sounding and easiest to use is a Faulk.

Calling wiil help alot,
Also to make your decoy spread look big use wind socks

Thanks I am going to pick up a call.

I made some cheap decoys out of white garbadge bags today. May pick some of those from Bass Pro.

anything white with the black "x's" for the wings might work. One of the guys on our club used old bucktes and cut them into the shape a shell is

Bud i hunt them down the bay....where ther are thousands......we don't call much...only at small flocks , leave the big flocks alone.....you can call till your blue in the face....it also would help if you had 300 deksand above to pull them in....snow geese like to be in big groups.....but it's fun calling the singles and small groups in...
