ive actually only duck hunted half a dozen times or so but a good friend of mine is a big time duck and goose hunter he helped me out alot in the past few months and would like to do somthing nice for him hes always talking about oneday getting some nice cork decoys and i thought ide get him a dozen of them i know there very expensive cheapest ive seen is 589 a dozen but thats not a very big issue he helped raise money for me and my family while i was hurt and could not work without his help i wouldve lost my house and everything in it i had no income for 6 months and he raised enough money that i was able to get through it im a young guy 26 and im married with 2 kids dont know where id be if he didnt help me out in my hard time so as you see the price of the decoy is not of importance but the fact of getting a good set not the best maybe but not junk is what is important to me
i was also considering getting him half a dozen and a real good duck call but not sure wich call is the best if you know please let me know

The downside or cork is their weight and cost. The plus side nothing rides as well or looks better IN THE WATER to waterfowl than cork and one can get away with fewer decoys in most situations.
A dozen good cork will outdraw 2-3 dozen plastic. If you hunt someplace with plastic and someone else is using cork and knows how to waterfowl , you 'll get some shooting in.......after the person using cork picks up and leaves.

I have hunted over cork for many years. I think Cork offers the most life likepresentation on the water. Plastic may look good in the store or catalog. Herters hasan Okay product, I'd look at the LL Bean. I also Ithink $50.00 a bird is a little steep, I'ddo a web search under Cork Decoys their should be a lot of sites. If none of this helps, post a note looking for me Johnny T. I have made good number of birds and would be willing to help.
