Default Canon HF100 Question

I just recently bought a canon HF100 and want to shoot my deer hunt this year during shotgun season. I made an arm that attached to the tree that i will be hunting out of so equipment wise i am good to go. I haven't done much taping with my camera but have done some research any it seems like everyone likes the cinemode with 24p. can anyone give me any other pointers or settings that i should try with this camera? also does anyone know of and good camcorder forums for the HF10/100? I have looked around but can only find camcorderinfo.com. They have great info on this site but the forums are lacking. Lots of posts go without answers and sometimes take days for a response.

I will try and post a pic of my camera arm later when i have a chance to take a pic.

Thanks
