RE: VERY dry bird season!!
Jason, Just to keep things in perspective- a good season in Wisconsin is getting one bird a day. Compare that to Iowa, Soth Dakota, Nebraska or Kansas. Pretty sad bird hunting in the Packer state. We are allowed to take 1 cock per day for the first two days of the season (3rd weekend in Oct.). After that until Dec.31st, we can take two per day with a possession limit of 4 and a grand total take of 10 birds per season. Keep in mind also that the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources plant some 44,000 game farm birds per year to keep our hunt here alive. We have a few good pockets of birds near the Iowa border (go figure).
I will be heading to South Dakota for the first time this year and am busting to get to the pheasant "Mecca".
Jason things could be worse. Kansas will rebound soon I would think with all the CRP and Pheasant Forever programs going on there, but Wisconsin? Like I said, it could be worse.

RE: VERY dry bird season!!
Jason,
We are extremely dry here in western Kansas, but we did hav plenty of birds. Problem was the weather was too warm and open to get the birds to sit or bunch up and being so dry made it quite difficult for the dogs to pick up a scent. Glad to hear you are not giving up, my grandad said the only thing for sure is that next year will be different!!! LOL
