I would go with 12 gauge or 20 gauge #8 depending on what loads I had on hand. I prefer the 20 gauge with #8 due to the slighly lower recoil.

I use a modified. Never thought about an improved cylinder but might have to try that.

12ga. 2 3/4 light loads with 7 1/2 shot, that will sure take'em to the game bag.

This also applies to 20ga only try using a slightly more powerful shell.

As for chokes, improved cylinder or modified are just O.k.

I been hunting doves in south Texas and northern Mexico for years now and never had a problem with this loads. In Mexico it will be a little of a trouble to find a specific load but you will find shells in 7 1/2 or 8 for sure.
