Help for SD pheasant hunting...
My father has planned a pheasant hunting trip for our family and a couple friends to South Dakota for this coming weekend. I beleive we will be hunting in the Mitchell area. I am looking for a couple suggestions about areas or land that are good in that area (within 60 miles). In the past we have a hunted a friends farm, and have asked a few farmers for permision to hunt their land (with limited success). Do you think we are better asking farmers (making giving some $$) to hunt their land, or exclusively look for public or CPR land, or both. Thanks for the help!!

RE: Help for SD pheasant hunting...
Jimmy, it never hurts to offer the farmer or landowner money for permision to hunt his/her land. We actually lease land frome the farmers in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma to run our whitetail and hog hunts. In the near future we are hoping to offer pheasant hunts on some of the Missouri property.
Check with IMB Outfitters in the outfitting section of this site periodically to see when we are going to be starting the pheasant hunts.

RE: Help for SD pheasant hunting...
Might be too late for this but most hunting in Eastern SD is paid hunting until later in the season and then is hard to find. This year there are lots of birds so public land may be good again go late in the season
