I live down here in the southeast corner. The best place would be the Comanche grasslands. There are some quail down in there. I' ve heard they were hit pretty hard by the drought though. Best bet would be around Picture Canon and Corrizo Canon.
Hey Howler, my inlaws are from Elizabeth. Quail Run has a bunch of birds to hunt. [8D] LOL.

Yip, I shoot archery at Quail Run, plus shoot some sporting clays every now and again. But, I prefer wild birds over the pen raised. They do go through a lot of birds annually though, just not my cup of tea I guess. I did go there regularly while training pups a while back though.

Howler,
I have to agree with you on the wild birds. I have only hunted QR once, but my father-in-law goes there often. I think he just likes to get away and hunt a little, even if the pheasants are no bigger than a pigeon. Well good luck with your hunts coming up this year. [:-]

If in doubt, contact the D.O.W. to get some advice. They are genarally very helpful and will direct you to the best areas. I would think that the NE would be better this year as they had more rain there last spring.
