If Franchi is still made in Italy and if you can afford the price, it would be an excellent gun but it would also be your 'years and years' gun.

I have had both Remington and Mossberg riot type shotguns. The Mossberg 590A1 I recently purchased is very sturdy, but has a very rough bore. The gunsmith I showed it to said he had seen plenty of rough bores on Mossbergs, but none as bad as mine. I have found that the bores, fit and finish are better on the Remington products.
