I am sure they are not steel shotshells as Winchester dosen't make steel shotshells in AA hulls. By reloads I mean they are empty hulls that have been reloaded by individuals. This is very common for target shooters, trap, skeet, sporting clays as it helps reduce costs for lots of shooters. They very well could be factory made shells as it is tough to tell from the pictures. Good luck with them.

OLD shells...???..
They aren't old unless they're paper, and they're not REALLY old unless they have a roll crimp rather than a star or fold crimp...
Shucks, I have SOCKS older than those shells, and so does Sproulman, I'll bet...

Check for steel shot shells with a magnet. Put the magnet next to the shell where the shot is, if it sticks its steel shot.

To be sure just hold up a magnet to it OR open one up from the top end and dissect the shell. Or you can just shot one against concrete and recover the shot.I assume you are not able to ask Dad about all this.
Reloads are spent shells that are made up NEW again using components to REMAKE the shell, like casing, primer, powder, wads, shots. The person that reloads his own shells have the liberty to adhere to factory recommendations or change some aspect of the shell, kind of custom make it.Just make sure the shells are the right lenght e.g. 2 3/4 inches 12 Ga. if that is you gun SPECS.

Reloads is when someone takes the empty casings ( shell ) and refills them so that they will shoot again.. My guess is that they are reloaded ones as well. They should shoot fine though.. Most steelshot shells will say so on the outside of them.. As well as most reloaders uses lead shot when reloading. They look alot like skeet shells to me but should work fine on grouse and wood****.. I know nothing about dove hunting as it is not legal here..
Someone say paper? Here is a few, mostly 00 Buckshot and the bird shot still had a star crimped on them. One of these is a slug, I have more but you guys get the idea...

another pic from a different angle.. Some of these old paper shells will say Kleanbore and extra long range instead of smokeless or magnum loads.. These look nice beside my old flintlock double barrel shotgun...
